  1. Beautiful ladies. I just read that there was no evidence or body. How could they sentence her to death? Makes no sense to me.

    1. Thank you for your comment and question -
You are exactly right; no evidence, no body, no blood, no weapon, no crime scene - NO ONE DECLARED DECEASED - how could they have a trial even? Kerry Lyn's trial took place 6 1/2 years after the alleged crime, and still Melanie May was not declared deceased. This is because, as Judge Whelan essentially said during the trial, it was just as plausible to assume May was alive someplace and just didn't want to be found. There was no evidence she had been killed.

This is an excellent and heartbreaking example of what can go wrong with the system, so how can we continue to have a Death Penalty when these kinds of life-stealing situations can occur?!

And what's even more frustrating is that we as U.S.A. citizens are told/promised there is an appeals process in place to insure mistakes, or other wrongful conviction issues, are corrected - however Kerry Lyn is still awaiting the FIRST level appeal - she has never had her case reviewed by the CA Supreme court after living on death row for over 20 years! How can the system explain that?

She was given public defenders (as nearly every single capital case is represented by, those with private attorneys do not end up on death row, they rarely seek death for those who can afford to represent themselves) who offered a weak defense at her trial (after supposedly preparing for 34 months). The prosecution was allowed to grand-stand, bully witnesses, use snitches, offer favors, and other prejudicial issues. Kerry was convicted on hearsay from unreliable sources, since all of the law enforcement who testified told the jury they found no evidence whatsoever of any crime snitch testimony should never have been taken seriously.

I will post more trial transcripts as soon as I can, examples to answer your question. Please continue to ask and look into this case - for Kerry Lyn's sake and for all of us. I want my sister exonerated and to have her come home - you should want this system fixed so you and your loved ones are actually safe. (there are transcripts from the trial on earlier posts in this blog).
When we lock up the wrong people, where are those who did offend?

Victoria i am sending a link to my close friend and advocate for inmates whom is also a person whom was on the condemned row list whom is also by the grace of god free and no longer a prisoner because of the support of many in her wrongful conviction. Her name is Sara Kruzan. I am close to someone whom was close to your sister thus connecting us this way. May God be exspecially with us in this situation.
